From its foundation in 1968<\/strong>as Fibras ESSO<\/strong>, after its acquisition by SAMCA Group<\/strong> in 1999<\/strong> and up to today, NUREL<\/strong> has gone through different stages and we have adapted to the fast changes experienced in our social, economic and industrial surroundings. <\/p>

Nowadays, we have five decades of experience in nylon yarns and polyamide polymers and, since 2015, also in sustainable biopolymers. <\/span><\/p>

Thanks to the work and effort of all people<\/strong> that belonged and belongs to NUREL, we have become a reference in the national and international market in the scopes of:<\/p>

    ESSO PLANT PROJECT<\/div>

    The American multinational petrochemical company ESSO<\/strong> is developing the engineering project for the construction of a nylon production plant <\/strong>in the Santa Isabel district of Zaragoza.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    The polymerization<\/strong> plant (P1) with four lines, the spinning<\/strong> plant (H1) with various sections, offices and service facilities were built and upgraded.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    On December 10,<\/strong> production begins at the plant with 550 employees. The following year, the official inauguration<\/strong> takes place, attended by the Ministers of Industry and Development Plan. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    The ESSO Fibers' nylon fabrics began to be advertised by means of model shows<\/strong> throughout Spain and by attending trade fairs<\/strong>. The trademark of the nylon fibers is NUREL<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    NEW PROPERTY<\/div>

    The plant is taken over by Banco Industrial del Mediterr\u00e1neo<\/strong> and subsequently by the English company Imperial Chemical Industries<\/strong>. It is renamed after the brand name, NUREL<\/strong>, and the development of a new polyester<\/strong> production plant begins. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    INAUGURATION OF POLYESTER PLANT<\/div>

    On January 25,<\/strong> the polyester yarn plant is inaugurated with the Minister of Industry. Daily production of 75 tons<\/strong> begins, under the polyester fiber trademark: TERYLENE<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    RECOVERY AND RECYCLING PLANT<\/div>

    At the end of the decade, a caprolactam recovery<\/strong> and industrial waste depolymerization<\/strong> plant is started up for recycling. NUREL reaches its historical maximum number of employees, 1503<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    NUREL has its own logistics network<\/strong>, distribution warehouses<\/strong> and a central office<\/strong> in Barcelona where some of the most important departments are located. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    COGENERATION AND THE DIGITAL ERA<\/div>

    A cogeneration plant<\/strong> is inaugurated, which converts primary energy into electrical energy and heat until 2005. The company starts working with PCs<\/strong> and an IBM-AS-400 management system<\/strong> with several terminals. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    ISO 9001 AND NEW OWNERSHIP<\/div>

    NUREL obtains ISO 9001 certification for quality management and assurance. <\/strong>A year later, the management team<\/strong> acquires the plant in view of ICI's intention to close it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    The Aragonese business group SAMCA<\/strong> purchases the NUREL<\/strong> production plant from the previous owner. In the summer of 1999 the first website<\/strong> in the history of NUREL is launched. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    The first patent is published regarding the encapsulation technology<\/strong> used by NUREL, being the only company in the sector to produce cosmetic fibers. NUREL launches the range of cosmetotextiles with NOVAREL Aloe<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    In January, a modern<\/strong> H3<\/strong> nylon spinning plant<\/strong> was inaugurated to replace the original 1968 plant (H1). A year later, the plastics division is relaunched with a new brand name: PROMYDE<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Opting for a more sustainable industrial development, the business is expanded with the start-up of a new biopolymer plant<\/strong>, INZEA. NUREL obtains ISO 50001 <\/strong>certification and the cosmetics sub-company ZEOMETIC<\/strong> is created. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    NUREL is 50 years old with 350 employees<\/strong> and produces 16,000 tons<\/strong> per year of compounds<\/strong>, 27,000 tons<\/strong> per year of polyamide polymer<\/strong>, 2,000 tons<\/strong> per year of recycled polymer<\/strong> and 7,200 tons<\/strong> per year of nylon<\/strong> continuous yarn.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    NEW RANGE OF PBT AND PET COMPOUNDS<\/div>

    NUREL develops and introduces a new range of PBT and PET <\/strong>based compounds , <\/strong>under the Terylene <\/strong> brand, expanding our markets in the automotive and electrical<\/strong> sectors. <\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    SOLAR ENERGY AND NEW LINE OF BIOPOLYMERS<\/div>

    In line with the company's commitment to the environment, 22,568 solar panels<\/strong> are installed on the floor and roofs of the NUREL industrial area, making it one of the largest self-consumption facilities in Europe with no discharge to the grid<\/strong>.
