Hydrolysis<\/strong> is a chemical reaction in which polymers are broken down by the action of water. This reaction leads to the breakage of molecular chains<\/strong>, a loss of molecular weight<\/strong> and a loss of polymer properties<\/strong>, especially toughness<\/strong>.<\/p>

Hydrolysis is a slow process at room temperature, <\/strong>but can be rapid at high temperatures<\/strong>. This is an irreversible process,<\/strong> as even drying the material will not restore its original properties.<\/p>

Some applications require materials with special properties to resist hydrolysis<\/strong>, such as tanks, pipes and ducts,<\/strong> where the polymer is in contact with hot water, steam or water-glycol<\/strong> mixtures.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

PROMYDE\u00ae HSA HR: PA6 with resistance to HYDROLISIS and heat stabilized<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

NUREL<\/strong> has recently developed PROMYDE\u00ae<\/strong> HSA HR,<\/strong> a range of special glass fiber reinforced PA6 grades<\/strong> specially designed for parts requiring extreme hydrolysis resistance<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>

PROMYDE\u00ae HSA HR PA6<\/strong> grades show significantly improved ageing properties<\/strong> and hydrolysis resistance<\/strong> compared to existing PA6 and PA66 alternatives.<\/p>

The contact with water in polyesters, even in the form of atmospheric moisture, causes the hydrolytic breakdown<\/strong> of the polymer chains and, consequently, the weakening of the material<\/strong>, especially at high temperatures<\/strong>.<\/p>

PROXYLENE\u00ae HR PBT<\/strong> incorporates additives<\/strong> that significantly reduce hydrolytic degradation<\/strong>, considerably extending the service life of the final product. The PROXYLENE\u00ae HR PBT<\/strong> range offers exceptional resistance<\/strong> to prolonged exposure to water at high temperatures.<\/strong><\/p>

PROXYLENE\u00ae HR PBT<\/strong> is available in unreinforced grades<\/strong> and with 15% and 30% glass fibre reinforcement<\/strong>.<\/p>

PROXYLENE HR PBT polymers offer very high resistance of the PBT polymer<\/strong> to prolonged exposure to high temperature water. Contact with water in polyesters, even in the form of atmospheric humidity, causes hydrolytic breakage of the polymer chains and thus weakening of the material, especially at elevated temperatures.<\/p>\n
