#0064a1;\">18\/01\/2017<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e341e5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2e341e5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>NUREL<\/strong> participates in the European research project BARBARA (<strong>Biopolymers with advanced functionalities for building and automotive parts processed through additive manufacturing<\/strong>), which has a budget of 2.7 million euros, almost all of which is provided by the EU, and brings together the following companies <strong>11 partners from Spain, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Belgium<\/strong>. This is a 36-month research project framed within the Framework Program for Research and Innovation of the European Union Horizon 2020. Coordinated by the <strong><a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aitiip.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanish Technological Centre Aitiip<\/a><\/strong>, involves the manufacture of prototypes that will show the possibilities that these new materials have in two important sectors automotive and construction. <\/p>\n<p>The aim of BARBARA is to develop <strong>new bio-based materials with innovative functionalities<\/strong> thanks to the incorporation of additives also from biomass so that, through the use of Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) technology, the most widespread technology for 3D printing, they can give rise to <strong>industrial application prototypes<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p>These new materials should be based on food waste (of vegetables and fruits such as carrots, almonds or pomegranates) and agricultural (corn) and have certain mechanical, thermal, aesthetic, optical and antimicrobial properties that make them suitable for industrial use in components for sectors of high levels of demand.<\/p>\n<p>NUREL, will participate with its extensive experience and knowledge in the chemistry of polymers, to develop new compounds from raw materials obtained from food and agricultural waste.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This project has received funding from under the European Union\u2019s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement
