What is NERIDE Biobased?
NERIDE BIOBASED PA 5.10 is a fully bio-based polyamide specifically designed as a genuine and efficient alternative to conventional fossil-based nylon.
Unlike traditional polyamides, bio-based NERIDE is synthesised from renewable raw materials:
Sebacic acid: derived from castor oil
Pentamethylenediamine (PDA): obtained through the fermentation of renewable sugars
The result is a polymer with a 100% bio-based carbon content, the renewable origin of which has been scientifically verified through C14 radiocarbon analysis.
Sustainability benefits
100% measurable bio-based content: certification of renewable origin verified through radiocarbon analysis. Complete transparency for brands and end consumers.
Reduced reliance on fossil fuels: we are replacing petrochemical-based inputs with natural and renewable raw materials, ensuring a more sustainable supply chain.
High technical performance: excellent processability and dyeability. NERIDE biobased maintains the mechanical properties of strength and durability required in the textile industry.
Reducing the carbon footprint: by using plant-based raw materials that capture CO₂ as they grow, we significantly reduce the product’s total life-cycle emissions.
Performance, comfort and workability
NERIDE biobased is part of a new generation of polyamides that strike a balance between sustainability and the demands of the premium market.
Exceptional comfort: its molecular structure ensures a soft feel and superior comfort for garments worn next to the skin.
Versatility of use: thanks to its excellent workability, it is ideal for a wide range of textile applications, from lingerie to high-performance sportswear.
Perfect dyeing: produces vibrant, solid colours that match the standards of traditional virgin nylon.
Applications of bio-based NERIDE
Thanks to its balanced properties, NERIDE biobased yarn is the ideal solution for:
Activewear and sportswear: technical garments that require durability and moisture management.
Lingerie and underwear: where the softness and natural origin of the fabric are what set them apart.
Sustainable fashion: brands seeking to reduce their environmental impact through the use of certified materials.
Technical accessories: fabrics that require durability and are environmentally friendly.
