NUREL at Smart Plastics 2026: leading innovation in high-performance polymers for electric mobility

The plastics industry is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and at NUREL we continue to lead this transformation from the forefront of polymer science. Recently, our team travelled to Milan to take part in SMART PLASTICS 2026: Tecnopolimeri a convegno, a key meeting point for materials engineering in Europe.
The VESPO Project: revolutionising electric vehicles
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation by our colleague Jorge Esparza, R&D Polymer Engineer, who shared the results of the VESPO Project.
Speaking to an audience of experts, Jorge explained how we are developing high-performance polymer alternatives to metal for electric vehicle (EV) battery housings. Through multilayer systems that integrate electromagnetic shielding (EMI) and structural functions, NUREL is delivering components that are lighter, safer and more efficient, while meeting the strictest chemical and mechanical resistance standards.
Comprehensive solutions for every technical segment
At our stand, visitors were able to explore the full depth of our portfolio, designed to cover everything from industrial applications to the most demanding e-mobility requirements:
Technical engineering compounds: through our brands PROMYDE® (PA6, PA66), PROXYLENE® (PBT and PET) and OLEXENE® (PP). We highlighted our halogen-free flame-retardant solutions and high-flow grades, essential for high-voltage components in the automotive sector.
High-performance polyamides: under the PROMYDE® Advanced Materials range, we presented long-chain polyamides (LCPA), PPA and PEBA, materials that offer superior thermal stability and flexibility where conventional polyamides fall short.
Sustainability and circular economy: our commitment to the planet is reflected in the RECO-LINE® range, with high-quality recycled polypropylene, polyamide and PET compounds. All of this is supported by production powered by 100% renewable energy, thanks to our solar plant with more than 28,000 panels.
