INZEA BIOPOLYMERS ARE BIO-BASED, BIODEGRADABLE AND COMPOSTABLE

All grades in the INZEA® portfolio are characterised by being biodegradable and partially bio-based. In addition, a large part of our products meet compostability requirements under specific conditions of temperature, time and humidity, at a maximum thickness determined by their composition.

Biodegradable plastics are those that are completely assimilated by microorganisms in the environment. The carbon present in the bioplastic is converted into CO₂ during this process.

The INZEA product range is designed to be reintegrated into nature through different waste management methods, such as industrial composting, home composting, or biodegradation in various environments such as soil, water or anaerobic digestion.

In those cases in which the collection of the packaging or product manufactured with our INZEA biopolymers is complex, or they end up in the soil, they will biodegrade providing nutrients to the soil. This is the case of agricultural mulch, plant stakes, phytosanitary applicators, hunting cartridges, among others.

Soil Biodegradation

INZEA® biopolymers offer an advanced solution for applications where soil biodegradation provides technical, environmental and operational advantages.

In certain agricultural applications and other uses involving contact with soil, full recovery of the product at the end of its service life can be complex or inefficient. In such cases, soil-biodegradable materials help reduce the accumulation of plastic waste and enable more sustainable end-of-life management.

Soil biodegradation is a natural process in which microorganisms present in the environment progressively convert the material into CO₂, water and biomass. The rate of the process depends on factors such as temperature, moisture, microbiological activity, soil characteristics, the thickness of the part and the final application.

Thanks to this functionality, certain INZEA® grades are particularly suitable for applications such as agricultural mulch films, stakes, clips, fastening elements, geotextiles and other products designed to remain in contact with the soil.

For agricultural mulch applications, INZEA® offers grades certified in accordance with EN 17033 and TÜV AUSTRIA OK biodegradable SOIL certification, ensuring effective biodegradation in soil without adverse effects on plants or surrounding organisms.
