BIODEGRADABLE BIOPOLYMERS FOR AGRICULTURAL MULCH
TWO ADAPTABLE GRADES FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF CROPS
NUREL presents two new INZEA biopolymer grades for the production of agricultural mulch films.
The use of agricultural mulch films is essential, as it helps control weeds, reduces irrigation water consumption, minimises soil erosion and increases soil temperature, thereby improving early-stage crop yields.
The new INZEA materials specifically designed for agricultural mulch films simplify plastic waste management and prevent the generation of microplastics, contributing to more sustainable agriculture.
With the aim of reducing food waste through sustainable packaging, INZEA, with its range of compostable and biodegradable biopolymers, offers a sustainable solution for the production of shrink film as an alternative to conventional plastic materials. These films help preserve the freshness of fruits and vegetables and can be disposed of together with the organic food waste they contain.
Advantages of certified biodegradable agricultural mulch films
INZEA biopolymers for the production of agricultural mulch films offer numerous advantages for all types of crops and are biodegradable in soil according to the European Standard EN 17033, ensuring proper biodegradation without harming the environment.
Benefits of biodegradable agricultural mulch films:
- Elimination of collection costs: As they are biodegradable, the costs associated with film collection are eliminated.
- Higher yield and quality: They improve crop yields and quality, providing savings in water and fertilisers.
- Weed and pest control: Effective in controlling weeds and pests.
- Soil protection: They protect soil structure and help maintain its integrity.
Additional advantages:
- Reduction of microplastics: They help prevent the accumulation of microplastics in agricultural soils, unlike conventional plastics which are not always fully removed.
- Soil conservation: Certified biodegradable agricultural mulch films do not cause the loss of the topsoil layer.
- Agronomic efficiency: Proven efficiency comparable to non-biodegradable mulch films in terms of soil temperature and weed suppression.
- Cost-effectiveness: Saves labour, time and costs by eliminating the need to recover plastic mulch.
INZEA FOR BIODEGRADABLE AGRICULTURAL MULCH FILMS
2 INZEA grades adapted to different moisture requirements
INZEA offers two different biopolymer grades for agricultural mulch films, tailored to varying moisture requirements depending on the type of crop, water conditions, crop duration and geographical location. These grades ensure optimal and application-specific biodegradation in each type of soil.
Key features of INZEA F08M and F09M grades:
- Adaptability to climatic conditions: Depending on the type of crop and geographical area, INZEA mulch films are resistant to different levels of moisture and climatic conditions.
- Optimal biodegradation: INZEA OK biodegradable SOIL materials are designed to ensure efficient in situ biodegradation, adapting to the specific conditions of each crop. After harvest, these films can be mulched and incorporated into the soil, improving its quality and reducing waste.
With INZEA grades, farmers can be confident they are using a sustainable and efficient solution that improves crop performance while protecting the environment.
DISCLAIMER: A final product manufactured from certified raw materials does not automatically meet the specific requirements of each certification.
Technical advantages of INZEA for biodegradable agricultural mulch films
- Performance and stability: INZEA offers excellent performance and stability in conventional blown extrusion lines used for traditional polymers, achieving a wide range of thicknesses (from 8 to 100 microns).
- Compatibility with masterbatches: Good compatibility with compostable black masterbatches. NUREL also offers INZEA grades for agricultural mulch films in black*
- Efficient mechanisation: Excellent field performance using standard machinery at the same operating speed.
Soil Biodegradation Certificate
The INZEA grades developed and used to produce agricultural mulch films comply with the EN 17033 standard, “Plastics – Biodegradable mulch films for use in agriculture and horticulture: Requirements and test methods for biodegradable agricultural films”. This certification ensures that INZEA films biodegrade properly in soil without causing harm to the environment.
INZEA offers several biopolymer grades for the production of mulch films, certified by DIN CERTCO in accordance with the EN 17033 standard and certified OK biodegradable SOIL by TÜV AUSTRIA.
