TRAYS
COMPOSTABLE BIOPOLYMERS FOR LAMINATED AND THERMOFORMED TRAYS
Today, lidded trays are one of the most widely used packaging for fresh food as well as for ready meals and take-away.
INZEA® biopolymers can be processed on standard laminators currently used for conventional polymers.
INZEA offers compostable solutions to replace conventional thermoformed or laminated trayswith a wide range of biopolymers adapted to all production processes.
INZEA for the production of sustainable trays
Thermoformed trays
Thanks to the properties of INZEA grades, trays made of biopolymers help to preserve food properly.
Laminated paper trays
100% compostable, made from paper coated with our INZEA paper coating grade, they are highly resistant to grease and liquids and can be in contact with all types of food.
Cardboard trays with compostable lamination
They combine the benefits of cardboard, such as rigidity for transport and high temperature resistance for oven and microwave use, with the compostability and food contact properties of INZEA films.
Lids for compostable trays
They allow the container to be sealed, thus preserving the contents in perfect condition.
Advantages of biopolymers for trays and lids
Among the many benefits of INZEA’s biopolymers for the manufacture of compostable trays and lids, the following stand out:
- Heat resistance, as the use of INZEA HT biopolymers allows freshly cooked food to be placed on the trays and can even be used in ovens and microwaves.
- Barrier solutions, which allow the correct and prolonged preservation of foodstuffs by providing a barrier to oxygen.
- Sealing, to prevent the contents from overflowing the packaging, the trays require a sealing film with a certain strength. In addition, INZEA is self-sealable, so that when used as a lamination and lid there is no need for additional materials.
- Food contact, to maintain food safety, INZEA has certified grades for food contact. Thanks to this property, paper and cardboard trays can be used to contain all kinds of foodstuffs.
- Transparency, in order to be able to see the contents of the tray at a glance.
