TESTS & CERTIFICATIONS
OF INZEA PRODUCT RANGES
INZEA has numerous certifications that guarantee the quality and safety of biopolymers. INZEA products conform with the international standards for composting and biobased content
COMPOSTABILITY
European Norm on packaging compostability (EN 13432) requires 4 tests, besides a detailed description of the product:
- Biodegradability test. Chemical decomposition of materials in CO2, water and minerals.
- Test on heavy metals content. Volatile matter >50%,heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Ni, Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr, Mo, Se, As) and fluorine below limit.
- Test on disintegration. Physical falling apart of the product in small fragments.
- Test on ecotoxicity. Measures if the composted product does not exert any negative effect on plants.
TÜV OK COMPOST
EN 13432: 2000 y ASTM D6400-12
The OK compost label guarantees compliance with EN 13432 and ASTM D6400-12, international standards for compostability in industrial composting facilities. To be eligible to get the certification, a product has to comply with the following requirements:
- Biodegradability in composting conditions: At least 90% of biodegradation in a maximum of 6 months at 50±2ºC with a relative humidity of 50-55%.
- Disintegration: Material with a size greater than 2mm must be lower than 10% after 3 months.
- Compost quality: Chemical analysis of the final compost, study and tests of eco-toxicological effects in higher plants.
- Physico-chemical characterisation of the test material (absence or limits of heavy metals and volatile solids up to 50%).
TÜV HOME COMPOST
HOME COMPOST
To guarantee complete biodegradability in a garden compost heap It refers to products that compost at lower temperatures. To be eligible to get the certification, a product has to comply with the following requirements:
- Biodegradability in composting conditions: At least 90% of biodegradation in a maximum of 12 months at ambient temperature (20-30ºC).
- Disintegration: Material with a size greater than 2mm must be lower than 10% after 6 months at 20-30ºC.
- Compost quality: Study and tests of eco-toxicological effects in higher plants.
- Physico-chemical characterisation of the test material (absence or limits of heavy metals and volatile solids up to 50%).
BIODEGRADABLE
INZEA grades for MULCH film applications are certified as biodegradable in soil.
TÜV OK BIODEGRADABLE SOIL & DIN BIODEGRADABLE IN SOIL
EN17033
INZEA provides certified biodegradable grades for soil applications in agriculture, accredited by TÜV and DIN CERTCO. Our products offer significant benefits for agricultural and horticultural use, as they can naturally decompose in the soil after their use, breaking down completely and safely without leaving harmful residues.
The OK biodegradable SOIL certification assures that a product will fully biodegrade in the soil without causing environmental harm. Furthermore, our products meet the EN 17033 standard, which outlines the requirements and test methods for biodegradable mulch films.
BIOBASED
INZEA products conform with the international standards for composting and biobased content
TÜV BIOBASED CONTENT
ASTM D6866
According to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), a biobased material is an organic material in which carbon is derived from a renewable resource via biological processes.
ASTM has set a standard method to calculate the level of biobased carbon included in a resin. INZEA product range is partially biobased and complies with USDA Certified Biobased Product Certification based on ASTM D6866 Standard.
